China's National Energy Administration has set a target total capacity of 10GWp for PV systems to be installed in China in 2014. The agency said 60% of the target capacity is for distributed PV systems and 40% for PV power-generating stations.
Industry sources in Taiwan indicated that the target capacity is significantly lower than the market-expected 12-14GWp probably because the China government has considered the financial burden and possibility that too high a target may cause an oversupply of PV products.
Currently, the China government offers a feed-in tariff rate of CNY0.42 (US$0.07)/kWh for distributed PV systems, mostly installed on rooftops, and CNY0.9, CNY0.95 and CNY1.0 per kWh for PV power-generating stations, the sources said.
