Gold Bond Mattress, one of the nation's leading independent mattress and futon manufacturers, announced it is expanding its cover selection for all its futons to include recycled leather, an environmentally friendly and affordable alternative to traditional leather.
Recycled leather is designed to offer the look and feel of traditional leather without the price. The cover option offers consumers the dimensional grain and hand-rubbed layered tones of traditional leather. Gold Bond's new chocolate brown offering is scratch and stain resistant, washable with soap and water and highly durable. The sleek option is also less prone to fade with exposure to light.
"Leather furniture is known for being the perfect blend of style and durability, making it a popular choice among consumers. However traditional leather can cost significantly more than other furniture coverings," said Gold Bond President Robert Naboicheck. "Leather furniture fits all types of décor – from contemporary to classic to high end chic. When we decided to introduce a leather cover into our line-up, we selected recycled leather because it adds style and sophistication while delivering high-performance durability and reliability. In addition to being a more affordable option recycled leather is also an eco-friendly one."
The leather offering will be sold in addition to the seven microfiber color choices Gold Bond currently has available for its 18 futon constructions. The recycled leather option increases the retail cost by $100.
"The growing interest for futons comes from consumer demand for functional, space-saving furniture that offers greater durability, sophistication and leading edge comfort materials and Gold Bond has been at the forefront of the trend since the 1980's. Our futons are perfect for every type of décor and the new leather cover option is just another step we are taking to keep futons decorative, comfortable and durable," said Naboicheck.
