PPG Introduces Duraform BP Polyester Coatings for Building Products

PPG Industries’ coil and building products group has introduced DURAFORM™ BP coating, a next-generation polyester coil coating engineered specifically for building product manufacturers.

Designed for one-coat application over aluminum or two-coat application over aluminum or hot-dipped galvanized steel, Duraform BP coating is formulated with PPG’s proprietary star-shaped polyester polymer to enhance forming flexibility and increase resistance to color fading, chalk, dirt and stains. The coating is available in a wide palette of colors in high, medium and low glosses, and it offers more processing flexibility than conventional polyester coatings because of its wide cure parameters and excellent flow characteristics.

Brian Knapp, PPG director, coil and building products, said Duraform BP coating is formulated to deliver a higher grade of coating quality to value-driven building product manufacturers. “The unique chemical structure of Duraform BP coating enables it to outperform traditional polyester coatings, particularly through its bonding strength with aluminum and galvanized steel,” he said. “That enables our customers to make products that look better and last longer at an economical price.”

As a leading global coatings manufacturer, PPG offers a comprehensive array of liquid, powder, electrocoat and pretreatment products for manufacturers in numerous industries. In addition to providing a broad range of industrial coatings and a full spectrum of color choices, PPG backs its products with technical expertise delivered through an international customer support network.
