Print and packaging solutions provider Multi Packaging Solutions International (MPS) has acquired UK-based AJS Labels and US-based i3 Plastic Cards, expanding its range of products.
AJS Labels is engaged in manufacturing of self-adhesive labels for a variety of markets including confectionary, health and beauty and personal care products.
MPS CEO Marc Shore said: “The acquisition of AJS is consistent with our strategy to develop a more substantial position in their end markets. It will help us grow the business organically and be part of our expanding global capability in the label space.
i3 Plastic Cards offers a fully-integrated solution for creating and personalizing plastic transaction cards including pre-paid gift and loyalty cards.
Additionally, the firm also personalizes all plastic cards, apply multiple print and finishing effects based on customer’s requirements.
Shore added: “i3 stands for innovation, integration and in-line. Their ability to manufacture on a fully integrated basis is a unique competitive advantage.
“We believe that both acquisitions are complementary in all respects to MPS’s strategic plan.”
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
AJS Labels owners and founders Andrew and Jayne Scrimgeour said in a joint statement that the deal with MPS would allow the company to realize its ambitious plans to grow and develop as part of a business with a global footprint and a broader range of capabilities.
i3 president and founder John Searfoss said: “We are sure that with the MPS group we can access wider markets with their greater geographic reach and product diversity.”
Through 59 manufacturing facilities, MPS offers print-based specialty packaging solutions, including premium folding cartons, inserts, labels and rigid packaging across a variety of substrates and finishes.
It serves customer base across the healthcare, consumer and multi-media markets.
