Germany-based plastics processing machinery specialist, Krauss Maffei said it has provided a cost-effective spin-platen injection molding solution to Rowenta-Werke's production line in France.
Rowenta wanted a solution for a new steam iron which consists of a transparent water tank, an opaque colored body and a handle with a soft touch zone, with an intent to manufacture the product in a single work cycle on a 3-component machine.
Krauss Maffei recommended a spin-platen mould installed in a KM650-1900/1900WP injection molding machine with a 650-clamp force with three injection units in the machine's centre axis and the third unit, mounted vertically above the fixed platen.
Its 90° mold rotation takes 1.8 seconds, which is nough time for the substrate to cool down minimally, resulting in uniform material bonding.
Rowenta, a part of the SEB Group with annual sales of $3 billion, manufactures small home appliances such as high quality steam irons and steam generator ironing systems.
