Taiwan-based LED chipmaker Epileds saw September revenues drop by 8.9% on year to reach NT$103 million (US$3.51 million). The firm reported third-quarter revenues of NT$321 million, representing an on-quarter decrease of 23.7%.
Epileds reported full capacity in the second quarter, hitting record high revenues in April and then breaking it again in May, at NT$144 million and NT$149 million, respectively. Nevertheless, a market downturn has been causing price to decrease, and the firm has been selective with orders. Capacity utilization rate has fallen to 80% in recent months.
Accumulated revenues for the first three quarters of 2012 were NT$1.04 billion, an on-year growth of 7.06%. Epileds holds conservative view about the fourth quarter as price competition is expected to continue.
