The Fugro Seeker Is The Latest Addition to Fugro EMU's Vessel Fleet

Fugro EMU’s new purpose-built vessel for hydrographic and geophysical survey Thursday, Dec 12, 2013

The Fugro Seeker is the latest addition to Fugro EMU’s vessel fleet and has been purpose-built to meet stringent specifications for shallow water hydrographic and geophysical surveys.

The 12 metre CATAPULT 396 vessel is specially equipped to provide accurate and high resolution survey data with the latest survey equipment including: hull-mounted dual head dual frequency Reson 7125 SV2 multibeam echosounder; hull-mounted Applied Acoustics USBL; Geometrics G-882 magnetometer; Edgetech 4200 sidescan sonar; hull-mounted Knudsen 320Ms single beam echosounder; hull-mounted SES pinger; and Applanix POS MV IARTK and MRU for navigation.

Capable of operating safely in the shallowest waters, Fugro Seeker is the ideal vessel choice for operations in inter-tidal and nearshore environments serving clients in the renewables, oil and gas, aggregates and ports and harbours sectors. Her two 450 HP Iveco engines provide high manoeuvrability ensuring efficient operations in strong currents and challenging locations, such as offshore wind farms.

Fugro Seeker will provide a stable and cost-effective work platform for scour monitoring and debris detection, surveys for pipeline and cable routes, unexploded ordnance and depth of burial as well as hydrographic surveys exceeding IHO Order 1A and vessel-based high resolution laser scanning surveys.

The back deck is 5.9 metres long by 4.8 metres wide providing a spacious and clear working area that allows for ROV deployment and storage. Operational equipment includes a hydraulic anchor winch for deployment; an A frame with a clearance height of 2.4 metres, which is capable of supporting loads up to 500 kilograms and suitable for both towing and launching equipment; and a dedicated moonpool.

Fugro Seeker can achieve speeds up to 26 knots ensuring fast transiting (at an average speed of 18-20 knots); the transit range is typically 602 kilometres. All safety gear onboard is inspected to meet MCA CAT 2 OP standards. Working on 12 hour rotation patterns, the vessel has a large and comfortable communal area, seating for up to 8 persons and a fully equipped galley.

Fugro is recognised as an industry leader in high resolution marine geophysical surveys. Part of the Fugro Group, Fugro EMU operates a fleet of specialised vessels, ensuring that the fleet remains up-to-date with upgrades and new additions. Fugro Seeker is the first custom-built survey vessel to be commissioned by Fugro EMU and is available immediately for projects.
