US-based Tri-Union Seafoods has voluntarily recalled a limited amount of Chicken of Sea Brand 7-ounce cans of solid white albacore tuna in water, as the product contains soy which is not mentioned in the ingredients list.
The product subject to the recall include Chicken of the Sea Brand 7-ounce solid white albacore tuna in water bearing a UPC code 0 48000 00097 2 and Best By Dates 10 January 2016 through 11 September 2016.
The error in the label was noticed during an internal audit of the finished product at the company's canning facility. The company has issued public health alert, reported the US Food and Drink Administration.
Tri-Union Seafoods president Shue Wing Chan said that the company has initiated the recall immediately after noticing the labeling error.
No other Chicken of the Sea products are affected by this voluntary recall.
