British Sawmills Raised Their Share of The Domestic Softwood Lumber Market Sharply

British sawmills raised their share of the domestic softwood lumber market sharply last year to 41%. This is the result the forestry company UPM Tilhill comes to after assessing data from HMRC. The data shows that lumber imports to the UK fell considerably more heavily last year at -14% than lumber consumption did, which was only 5% lower than the previous year’s level. As such, British consumers purchased from domestic manufacturers more heavily than they used to. A total of roughly 7.6m m³ of softwood lumber was sold in the UK in 2011, the figure had still be roughly 8.0m m³ the year before. Source: euwid-wood-products
