Preliminary figures indicate that manufacturing of HDF rose sharply by 17.8% in Germany in the fourth quarter of 2012 to 569,486m3. The first quarter ended with a 4 % improvement to 537,658m3, with HDF production climbing 17.9 % to 573,061m3 in the second quarter. Figures from the Federal Statistical Office show that the highest quarterly total in recent years of 616,959m3 had been booked in the third quarter. This sum was 13.9 % higher than the prior-year period. Looking at all four quarters, 2012 ended with a 13.3 % hike in HDF production to 2.297m m3.
