In August this year, South Korea's total automotive (cars and commercial vehicles) output amounted to 272,744 units, down 33.4 percent month on month and declining by 20.6 percent year on year, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). On the other hand, South Korea's car and commercial vehicle output in the first eight months of the current year saw a year-on-year increase of 2.1 percent to 3,024,538 units
Meanwhile, in August this year South Korean automotive exports totaled 182,795 units, down 29.2 percent month on month and decreasing by 18.8 percent year on year. In the first eight months of the current year, the country's automotive exports increased by 0.1 percent year on year to 2,046,811 units.
In August this year, the number of vehicles sold in the South Korean domestic market totaled 106,645 units, down four percent year on year and down 12.6 percent month on month. In the first eight months of this year, domestic vehicle sales in South Korea increased by 3.6 percent year on year to 947,559 units.
