Mokka Suv in Germany Is Released by Opel

Opel, the subsidiary of US carmaker General Motors (GM) has unveiled its first SUV, the Mokka, at Auto Mobil International (AMI) show in Leipzig, Germany, marking its entry into the sub-compact sports utility vehicle segment.

The new Mokka will be offered with various powertrain options which include a 1.6litre petrol engine which will deliver an output of 115hp and 155 Nm torque, as well as a 1.4litre Turbo which will generate 140 hp output and 200Nm torque, while the 1.8litre engine will be launched only in Russia.

Mokka's diesel powertrain lineup comprises a 1.7 CDTI turbo diesel engine which delivers an output of 130hp and 300Nm torque which will be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.

According to the carmaker, the 1.4litre Turbo diesel engine will be offered initially with manual transmission, but later will be launched as automatic transmission versions.

The new SUV will be offered in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions and its security features include the Opel Eye rear camera, the lane departure warning (LDW) and the traffic sign recognition II (TSR II).

Opel has also equipped the SUV with electronic stability control (ESC), the traction control (TC) as well as the hill start assist (HSA) and hill descent control (HDC) systems, which will enhance the driving experience and safety during uphill or downhill driving.

The new German SUV will be launched to the market by the end of 2012 at a starting price of EUR18,990.
