Heimtextil (9 to 12 January 2013) is showing a significant increase in the number of fibre and yarn exhibitors. The range of products runs the gamut from traditional materials to high-tech fibres for highly specialised applications. More than 30 fibre and yarn producers from 15 different countries have registered for the international trade fair for home and contract textiles in Frankfurt am Main, including renowned providers from Germany – such as Advansa, Dralon, Gütermann, Outlast Europe and Trevira – as well as numerous international fibre producers, such as Austria's Lenzingor and Reliance Industries from India.
"Heimtextil offers companies in this segment a sales and trade platform that is unrivalled around the globe," explains Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.
"Here fibre, yarn and thread manufacturers meet directly with users in the home textile sector." Robust fibres for sun protection textiles and awnings are every bit as in demand as raw materials for manufacturing curtains, upholstery and decorative fabrics, carpeting and bath, bed and table textiles. New smart fibre functionalities that promise greater durability, UV resistance, fire protection or antiallergy properties are of particular interest.
Gütermann believes in trade fair concept
For the first time, German company Gütermann will be joining Heimtextil to present a selection of yarns and threads for the "sun" product group in Hall 5.1. "With our production sites located in Germany, our yarns and fibres reach POS faster than goods from China or other countries overseas. In addition to our tremendous material expertise, that is a major advantage that we want to communicate to our customers," states Petra Grathwohl, Global Marketing Director Industry at Gütermann.
"When I went to Heimtextil in January 2012 and saw the number of visitors, the decision was obvious: Gütermann will be able to effectively showcase its expertise at this trade fair. The potential in terms of high-quality visitors and other exhibitors is definitely there and the trade fair concept was something we could stand behind."
The company based in the Black Forest has been manufacturing sewing threads for every imaginable application since 1864, including menswear and boys' apparel, women's outerwear, shoes, leather, furniture and home textiles, such as sun protection systems and awnings. The fibres can also be used in the technical textile segment – whether in aviation and aerospace technology or the automotive industry, where they hold together airbags or upholstery in car interiors.
Trevira: market leader for flame-resistant fabrics
For Trevira, one the world's most renowned specialist fibre manufacturers, home textile fibres are its most important business segment, ranging from curtains and decorative fabrics to upholstery and carpeting fibres. This division accounts for roughly one quarter of Trevira's sales. The flame-resistant Trevira CS fabric collections for home textiles make Trevira a market leader in this segment.
