Mr Chaudhary Anwar Ali Cheema minister of Federal Production said that a 10 MW independent power unit would soon be established at Sargodha Industrial Park while all other industrial parks being developed by the ministry would have more such power units.
Mr Cheema was speaking at the inauguration of SIP. He said that the power unit is part of a bigger plan that has been devised by the federal government to ensure an un interrupted supply of electricity to the industry. He added that PKR 7.5 billions have so far been spent on different development projects including the construction of roads, provision of gas to 32 localities, establishment of a medical college and a university in Sargodha.
He said that "The objective in establishing this project was to provide one window facilities to the industrialists and the investors of the region." He added that the project would create 20,000 direct job opportunities.
Mr Mohsin Sayed regional director North, National Industrial Parks, said that the SIP is being established on an area of 100 acres in the vicinity of Sargodha City for systematic and organized industrial growth. He said that 50 acres of land would be developed in the first phase and the remaining will be done in the second phase. The purpose is to create employment opportunities in the local cottage industries.
