PFF Packaging Develops Fully-Recyclable Cups for Its New Noodles Range

PFF Packaging Group has developed a new range of fully-recyclable cups for Asian-inspired retail brand itsu for its noodles range.

The new cups are designed for the four new noodle flavours launched by itsu. The packaging features different look to stand out from itsu Grocery’s competitors on shelf.

itsu Grocery brand manager Melissa Negretti said: “The retail grocery environment is very competitive and our products need to combine high shelf impact with strong visual consumer appeal and recognition

“We have invested significantly in improving the authenticity of our noodle recipes and flavors and so sought a cup that complemented this.”

The Japanese-inspired cup was developed using PFF’s recyclable ‘Desto’ cup as a start point.

The firm worked with itsu to develop the cup, which incorporates a range of aesthetic and practical innovations. PFF said.

The cup is wrapped with a unique card featuring an intricate embossed pattern replicating a Japanese paper screen to provide more tactile experience to consumers.

Additionally, the cup’s inner lining features a printed design and message intended to maximize the opportunity to communicate with the consumer, the firm noted.

The cup comes with a smart black thermoformed polypropylene lid, which is embossed with itsu’s trademark butterfly. It lid also incorporates innovative internal features to maximize functionality.

PFF key account manager Libby Coe said: “As careful custodians of itsu’s design and brand values, we wanted to create a bespoke cup that was visually stunning while thetactile element took the design to the next level.

“At the same time it was vital to ensure that the cup remained robust and performed perfectly.

“We relished the technical challenges and greatly enjoyed working alongside itsu to create such a distinctive and eye-catching product.”

The four new noodle flavors including Katsu, Satay, Pho and Chilli Miso were made available in the stores since January 2018.
