ULYANOVSK.Sept 19(Interfax)-A joint venture Pilkington of Britain is involved in will be setting up in Ulyanovsk Region facilities for the production of energy-efficient float glass in Ulyanovsk Region with the investment of 7 billion rubles.
The regional administration's press service said that Ulyanovsk Region Governor Sergei Morozov and the deputy of the board of directors at LLC JV Glass Holdings B.V.Paul Ravenscroft signed a memorandum of intent on Tuesday.
"The factory will be sited in the industrial zone Zavolzhe.The enterprise will be outfitted with equipment allowing for the production of low-emission energy-efficient glass.Nano-coverage will be applied during its production.This glass coverage process was developed by the company Pilkington,which will provide the technology to the plant,"a company statement says.
Plans are that the enterprise will be producing up to 400 tonnes of energy-efficient glass a day.More than three hundred new jobs will be created.The building of the factory will begin this year and wrap up in 2015.
The executive director of OJSC Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation,Sergei Vasin,told Interfax that the JV was created specially to carry out this project by four parties-the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,Pilkington,the state corporation Rusnano,and the Russian company STIV.Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation is a wholly regionally owned business.
"The chief organizational role in the implementation of this project is being played by Britain's Pilkington,"Vasin said.
