Hyundai HTRAC AWD for Genesis

Hyundai is set to introduce an all-wheel drive version of the next generation Hyundai Genesis sedan and coupe as part of its new HTRAC system.

HTRAC, which stands for Hyundai Traction, electronically controls the torque differentiation between the front and rear axles based on road conditions, also offering the driver greater ability to chose the split.

Hyundai says it has tested the system at the Nürburgring race track in Germany, the Yeongam F1 circuit in Korea as well as intensive winter testing in Europe and is confident it’s the best in class AWD system for performance and durability.

Although only announced to the Hyundai Genesis range for the moment, it’s likely that HTRAC will make its way into multiple models, allowing Hyundai to introduce a family of AWD vehicles, potentially leading the way to a performance line of models that deliver power via all four wheels.

Unlike the current Hyundai Genesis, the next-generation, due in 2014, will be available in right-hand drive and Hyundai Australia has already confirmed it will take the coupe and is considering the Genesis sedan.
