Valmet has delivered three IQ Moisturizers to Dunapack Mosburger's corrugated line in Strasswalchen, Austria, which will allow the plant to improve corrugated box quality and performance.
The moisturizing system is used to rectify all kinds of warping and minimize cracking tendency.
More than €30m was invested by Dunapack Packaging, which has also installed a new 2.8m corrugated line in its Mosburger Strasswalchen production facility.
Dunapack Mosburger Strasswalchen corrugated line manager August Hauser said: "Higher quality, more diverse papers together with improved production and smaller, just-in-time orders make it more and more challenging to act against warp with standard temperature, speed and glue settings.
“We were looking for a device to do it. When Valmet presented its control technology that is widely proven in paper production, we were convinced that this will work on our corrugated line, too.”
Valmet automation country manager for Austria and Eastern Europe Christian Kallich said: "Valmet's IQ quality control solutions are established on paper machines worldwide. However, it takes innovative people to adopt them in the converting and corrugated industry, too. Innovation is definitely an attitude shown by the Dunapack Mosburger team.”
The moisturizer system will integrate fine and controlled water mist with 60mm or 120mm resolution in a cross direction to optimize glue consumption.
The moisturizing system, which has an operator interface induced into the existing process controls, features a two-stage spray head to balance the mixture of air and water.
Dunapack Packaging, a division of the Prinzhorn Group, operates 18 sites in 10 countries and produces corrugated board from recycled papers.
Prinzhorn Group employs over 6000 people across 15 countries and specializes in recycling, paper and packaging industry.
