Production of Mazda6 at Its Hofu Facility Is Started by Mazda in Japan

Japanese carmaker Mazda Motor has begun production of Mazda6 sedan at its Hofu Plant No. 2, in Yamaguchi region.

The new sedan is powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine mated to a six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission, which generates 155hp output and 150lb-ft of torque.

According to the carmaker, Mazda6 is the first of its model to feature the unique brake energy regeneration system, i-ELOOP.

Mazda will unveil the new Mazda6 sedan for Russia at the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2012, beginning from 29 August 2012.

The new Mazda6 will be launched for the European and Japanese markets before 2012 end and for other markets beginning with the US during early 2012.

Mazda is planning to produce about 120,000 units of the Mazda6 per year at the Hofu Plant.
