Anti-Microbial Air Treatment Systems Eliminate Airborne Bacteria Before They Can Reach

Anti-microbial air treatment systems will become a “very important” hygiene factor in the food manufacturing industry in coming years, Ecolab’s Marcus Ley told reporter Mark Astley.

Speaking with FoodProductionDaily.com at Brau Beviale in Nuremberg, Ley claimed that demand for this type of technology will increase across the food industry as manufacturers look for innovative methods to ensure product quality and extend the shelf life of their finished products.

Anti-microbial air treatment systems, such as Ecolab’s own Airspexx technology, eliminate airborne bacteria before they can reach and contaminate food in during production and packaging, and in storage environments.

Ley – manager of food and beverage corporate accounts in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Ecolab – expects demand for the technology to increase.

“Whether there will be a legal demand or not, I believe that we will see many, many more applications in this industry in order to control the air - not only the air flow, not only the air quality, but also the air’s microbiological load,” said Ley.
