According to foreign media’s report, IDC predicts worldwide smartphone shipments will reach almost 1.3 billion units in 201, up 26.3% on year. And Android Smartphones shipment units will reach 1.06 billion, accounting for 82.3%.
By contrast, Apple's iOS will see its market share to be 13.8% and its shipment will be 178 million units. And Windows Phone shipments will hit just 35 million units this year and account for 2.7 percent of the space.
IDC predicts worldwide smartphone shipments growth to slow significantly in 2015 and the estimated slowdown in growth continues through at least 2018. At that time, emerging markets will become the main momentum of global growth and the prices will decline accordingly. In 2014, the average selling price of a smartphone this year is $297, but IDC says that will fall to $241 by 2018 in emerging markets such as India.
IDC says that Apple's iOS will generate 34 percent of the worldwide smartphone revenue, despite shipping a projected 13 percent of smartphones that year.
