German automaker BMW has reported a 13.7% increase in revenues to EUR18.8bn for the third quarter of 2012, compared to EUR16.5bn it reported during the corresponding period in 2011.
Profit before financial result (EBIT) increased 13.8% to EUR2bn for the quarter, compared to EUR1.7bn for the same period last year.
For the quarter net profit increased 16% to EUR1.28bn, compared to EUR1.11bn for the same period previous year.
The number vehicles sold increased by 9% to 434,963 units for the quarter, compared to 399,218 units in 2011.
Automotive segment revenues increased by 12% in the quarter to EUR1.7bn, compared to EUR1.5bn in the year ago period.
BMW chairman of the board of management Norbert Reithofer said that the company had a good third quarter, setting new sales volume, revenues and earnings records in the face of a challenging market environment.
"We expect further sales volume growth for the fourth quarter, even though it is clear that we - and indeed the sector as a whole - are likely to be confronted with adverse business conditions," Reithofer said.
