Food Technology Noord-Oost Nederland (FTNON), a Holland-based food technology equipment provider, has developed Stir, an air dryer for drying fresh salads, vegetables and herbs.
The new Stir (Selective Transformed InfraRed) drying technique uses the Infra Red approach. The equipment utilizes minimum energy and eliminates bacteria buildup.
The company said that with the new technique it is possible to dry to an adhering residual humidity of 0-2% for salads and herbs, and to a total residual humidit of 7-10% for other products.
FTNON creates machines for the fresh convenience industry for the processing of fresh salads, vegetables, fresh fruit, potatoes and mushrooms. It operates subsidiaries in Almelo, the Netherlands and Salinas, USA.
The company develops equipment mainly focused on fresh salads, vegetables and herbs, fresh fruit, processed vegetables and fruit, potatoes, mushrooms, ready meals and sauces, meat, poultry and fish.
