Mexico's Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Production Volume Increased by 3.9 Percent

In April this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume increased by 3.9 percent year on year to 248,031 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports rose by nine percent year on year to 202,328 units.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 5.8 percent year on year to 1,022,762 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports indicated a rise of 8.7 percent year on year to 808,532 units.

In the first four months, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Canada, the US and Asia increased by 41.1 percent, 15.5 percent and 1.4 percent respectively, both year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Europe, Africa and Latin America, down 42.9 percent, 5.9 percent and 2.3 percent respectively.

As for domestic sales, in April Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle sales decreased by eight percent year on year to 76,865 units. In the first four months, 327,989 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in the domestic market, down 0.8 percent year on year.
