Brazil's Iron Ore Export Volume Falls by 12.2% in June From May

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 26.1 million mt in June this year, decreasing 3.9 percent compared to May and up slightly by 0.9 percent compared to the same month of 2012, according to the preliminary information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in June fell 12.2 percent compared to the previous month, and was down by 5.7 percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling $2.6 billion.

In June, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 319,900 mt, decreasing 9.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 40.9 percent compared to the same month of 2012, while these exports were valued at $167 million, decreasing by 29.9 percent compared to May and down 47.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in June Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 109,200 metric tons, decreasing 24.4 percent from May and down 35.3 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports in June totaled $81.3 million, falling 39.2 percent month on month and down 45 percent from the June 2012 level.
