UK-based Intertronics has recently launched the Dymax 3401 dual cure (UV and moisture) adhesive which has been designed for the rapid bonding of a wide variety of plastic and metal substrates, including PC and ABS applications.
The Dymax 3401 is capable of working fast with under 1 second UV/visible light cure using broad spectrum UV or narrow spectrum 385nm LED light.
The adhesive also claims to provide secondary moisture activation which helps in complete curing in shadow areas for quick and convenient assembly, leading to an improvement in manufacturing efficiency and reducing costs.
Speaking about the product, Intertronics managing director Peter Swanson said: "Dual-cure 3401 cures rapidly and reliably under UV with low shrinkage and is moisture and thermally resistant. Post process it fluoresces blue under low intensity black light for easy inline bond inspection."
The company said that the Dymax 3401 is ideal for substrates like ABS, PC, PCTG, PEI, PETG, PI, PSDU, PVC, brass and glass.
Speaking about the features of the adhesive, the company said that it has a superior bond strength and is formulated with a UV/Visible light and secondary ambient moisture-cure system.
It is also said to be moisture- and thermal-resistant and offers low shrinkage, fluorescence blue under low-intensity "black light" for easy in-line inspection. It can be cured with LED curing lamps.
The Dymax 3401 has been made available for manual dispensing in 30ml syringes or 300ml cartridges and for use on continuous conveyor production lines with automatic dispensing and curing systems.
