APTMA Has Taken up a New Initiative to Improve The Condition of Pakistani Textiles

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has taken up a new initiative to improve the condition of Pakistani textiles in the global market and double the exports of the textile industry in the country.
 
The initiative Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy that focuses on ‘people, planet and profit’ to project the entire textile supply chain of Pakistan as an environment-friendly and socially responsible industry towards the people.
 
Speaking at a press conference, APTMA chairman Ahsan Bashir said a comprehensive strategy was being developed in this regard to take full advantage of the free market access under the European Union’s Generalized Scheme of Preferences plus (GSP+) system.
 
APTMA is aiming at US$ 30 billion exports in three years, he added.
 
APTMA has already roped in Dubai-based Pakistani businessman and philanthropist Raza Jaffar to implement the TBL (planet, people and profit) initiative and improve the image of the textile industry.
 
The chairman of the APTMA Standing Committee on International Trade said APTMA is engaging all its members to ensure the welfare of its workers, including health, safety and education of their children as part of the TBL strategy.
 
APTMA is also formulating an integrated policy to convince the international customers that Pakistan has a reliable textile chain for business purposes, the standing committee chairman added.
