German car maker Audi has put the decision over the investment of €200m to build a new assembly line in Brazil on hold till 2013.
The decision was made after the Brazil's government increased a tax on foreign-made cars and auto imports which decrease the import of the company's cars from 5,700 to 4,800 in 2012.
Continuous growth of the Brazilian car market compared to the US and Europe markets, have also prompted the company to think over the assembly line.
Audi head of Brazilian division Leandro Radomile said that the company is in the project's initial phase, without anything defined."
"The easiest option would be to adapt one of parent company Volkswagen's local assembly lines," Radomile added.
The companies like BMW, Acura and Nissan have already entered the Brazilian market with their segments of luxury cars.
