New Digital Biology Center Is Unveiled by Bio-Rad Labs to Develop New Products

Bio-Rad Laboratories has unveiled a new Digital Biology Center to develop new products for research and diagnostics markets.

The first launched QX100 Droplet Digital PCR system will utilize the droplet partitioning technology to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and to provide a new approach to nucleic acid quantification.

The QX100 Droplet Digital PCR system's QX100 droplet generator partitions samples into 20,000 nanoliter-sized droplets and are streamed in single file on the QX100 droplet reader.

The PCR-positive and PCR-negative droplets on the droplet reader are counted to provide absolute quantification of target DNA in digital form, detecting rare DNA target copies with unmatched sensitivity and determine copy number variation.

Digital Biology Center director Annette Tumolo said the launch of QX100 Droplet Digital PCR instrument utilizing digital droplet partitioning technology has potential far beyond the digital PCR market.

"Our mission is to provide innovative products that deliver powerful, accessible solutions for digital biology and expand the reach of our digital droplet PCR technology," Tumolo added.
