China's exports of unwrought magnesium, with a minimum magnesium content of 99.8%, edged up 4.4% on year to 24,607 mt in March, and also jumped 107.8% compared with 11,844 mt in the previous month of February, data from the country's General Administration of Customs showed Wednesday.
In January-March, unwrought magnesium exports totaled 58,184 mt, up 5.6% year on year.
Meanwhile, magnesium alloy exports in March stood at 9,323 mt, down 9.6% on year, but up 58% on month. For the first three months, exports reached 27,817 mt, up 10.9% from the same period in 2013.
China's export of magnesium powder, granules and chips in March amounted to 8,859 mt, which was a marginal decline from 8,977 mt exported in the same month 2013. The figure, however, was 126.5% higher from exports in February.
In January-March, magnesium powder, granules and chips exports totaled 22,074 mt, up 7.3% year on year.
China also exported 512 mt of wrought magnesium in March, up 133.8% year on year and also up 143.8% month on month. For the first quarter, wrought magnesium exports stood at 1,212 mt, up 40.6% on year. Exports of magnesium articles in March reached 389 mt, a drop of 28.6% from a year ago, and also a slight fall of 1.3% from February. In Q1 2014, a total 1,259 mt were exported, an increase of 1.6% on year.
