Central European particleboard markets turned out to be much weaker than expected in September and October. Particleboard manufacturers’ order intake had gradually improved during September. However, this improvement in demand was slower than anticipated in almost all sales sectors. The typical autumn recovery has not materialised this year. A few sectors have been showing the first signs of weakening again since mid-October. Subdued order intake in some parts of the furniture industry and furniture manufacturers’ dwindling export activity is now making these buyers hesitant to purchase particleboard.
