The Production of Textile Industry in Spain Registered an Increase of 2.4% Year-on-Year

The production of textile industry in Spain registered an increase of 2.4 percent year-on-year, for the month of October, 2013, as per the latest Industrial Production Index (IPI) data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Spanish Textile Industry Production Rises 2.4% in Oct’13

According to the INE data, the increase in the textile sector IPI for the month of October is a decline compared to the surge of 9.8 percent year-on-year registered in September, 2013.

The IPI in the manufacturing of garments sector registered a growth of 8.6 percent in October, 2013, compared to the same period last year.

The IPI of the overall Spanish industry registered a decline of 0.8 percent in October 2013, as compared with the same month of the previous year. The IPI registered in October is nearly two points below that registered in September. 

The IPI measures the monthly progress and productivity of industries, including extractive industries and the manufacturing sector. This indicator reflects only the quantity and quality of production, eliminating the influence of prices. This methodology is fully harmonized with the European Union countries.
