The all-new Mini Cooper will make its debut at the Los Angeles motor show in November.
Speaking at the local launch of Mini's John Cooper Works range, Mini Australia product planning manager Sue McCarthy confirmed the replacement for the now six-year-old Mini hatch would be unveiled at the US show before launching globally in 2014.
"We'll see the new one at the LA motor show in November, with [an international] launch first quarter of next year," McCarthy said.
The third-generation Mini Cooper hatch is planned to reach local showrooms by mid 2014.
Set to share its front-wheel-drive underpinnings with an upcoming baby BMW that will sit under or replace the rear-drive 1 Series, the next Mini hatch will be powered by a range of 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and remain under four metres long.
A series of spy shots captured earlier this month revealed the new Mini will take styling inspiration from the Countryman and Paceman variants as well as the Mini Rocketman concept, evolving the current design with more characterful, eye-catching details.
The 2013 Los Angeles motor show opens its doors on November 22.
