German carmaker Opel has expanded the Astra family of vehicles by unveiling the new four-door Astra notchback sedan, following the five-door hatch, Sports Tourer and GTC sedan.
The new sedan is offered with seven engine options, including four gasoline units delivering an output range between 74 kW/100hp to 132kW/180hp, out of which three engines can be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Opel is also planning to introduce three diesel engine variants which offer an output ranging between 70kW/95hp to 96kW/130hp.
Opel said that two new Astra notchback models powered by 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX engines featuring Start/Stop system will deliver combined output of 81 kW/110 hp or 96 kW/130 hp and consume 3.7litres of diesel per 100km.
The company is also planning to launch a new Astra four-door sedan by 2013, which will be powered by a new 1.6litre SIDI ECOTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine.
According to carmaker, the new Astra notchback version is expected to be unveiled for public at the Moscow motor show in August2012.
