Flexible pouch packaging provider Cheer Pack North America has awarded a contract to the US-based producer of insert molded and assembled products, Plainfield Precision to manufacture caps and straws.
The Cheer Pack pouch is made up of straw, cap, film and each part requires specialized equipment to ensure a secure product. The large cap has been designed specifically to lessen any concerns of a choking hazard.
According to Plainfield Precision, the 32mm diameter will not pass through a small parts testing tube, and the straw, which includes critical dimensions required to ensure sealing integrity and the correct cap torque with a tamper evident feature, is injection molded with precise technology.
Plainfield Precision division president Jonathan Soucy said the flexible pouch packaging market is rapidly growing due to both economic and environmental benefits.
"The pairing of the Cheer Pack's innovative product design with Plainfield Precision's manufacturing capabilities is an ideal partnership," Soucy added.
In order to meet the demand for 45 million units per month, Plainfield Precision has invested in six electric Toshiba presses besides converting 7,000ft2 of production floor space to FDA clean room standards.
Both the companies are working together to come up with new designs and in the future Plainfield Precision plans to manufacture within Cheer Pack's new 180,000ft2 facility, improving efficiency and simplifying logistics.
Cheer Pack North America is an international partnership consisting of Hosokawa Yoko of Japan, Gualapack of Italy and CDF of the US.
