High-End Fashion Web Retailer Shangpin.COM Has Entered Into a Partnership Deal with CFDA

In a bid to promote US designers in China, which is rapidly-growing as an international luxury market, the Beijing-based high-end fashion web retailer Shangpin.com has entered into a partnership deal with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

Considered to be a major breakthrough in China’s widely popular e-commerce market, the collaboration would help the niche American labels to reach a wider customer base, not only limited to major metropolises, but also to tier II and III cities like Wenzhou and Kunming, which boast of a significant appetite for upmarket fashion brands.

The partnership would additionally act as a source of knowledge on the fast emerging Chinese market for the CFDA designers who are willing to expand their businesses in the nation, said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb while addressing the media.

Followed by more than 300 million shoppers, the site, which would start offering a wider product portfolio from over 400 CFDA-registered designers by the end of 2013, currently features products from two CFDA-recognized brands – Diane Von Furstenberg and Stuart Weitzman.

Launched in 2010, Shangpin operates in nearly 400 cities of China. The site offers a no-questions-asked return policy and free FedEx delivery anywhere in the country along with a 24/7 customer service.

Given the vast geographical scale of the country, and limited number of distributors, e-commerce serves as an important distribution and marketing platform for smaller international brands who want to reach out to Chinese regions where traditional bricks-and-mortar stores do not exist.
