Canadian firm Balzac's Coffee Roasters has selected Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee’s RealCup recyclable plastic cups to launch its single serve beverage products.
RealCup's EcoCup recyclable capsules will enable Balzac to launch two of its blends, Balzac's Blend Traditional Roast and A Dark Affair, in single serve format.
The products will be made available to restaurants, foodservice operators and office coffee service providers.
Balzac's Coffee Roasters president and founder Diana Olsen said: "With the availability of Mother Parkers' EcoCup format, we felt it was the right time to expand into this rapidly growing single serve market and give consumers a more environmentally conscious option when selecting a single serve coffee brand."
Launched in 2014, for loose-leaf teas, EcoCup was expanded for coffees, including Marley Coffee, earlier this year.
EcoCup capsules are recycled by pulling off the top with a tab, and disposing of the remains of the tea/coffee and the filter.
Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee marketing vice-president Sean Bredt said: "As a Canadian family-owned company with more than 102 years of history, Mother Parkers understands what it takes to build a business from the ground up and we are excited about the opportunity to help another successful Canadian entrepreneur grow in new ways.
"The quality and attention to detail in Balzac's coffee blends are perfect for the RealCup filter solution that puts true taste in the cup."
Established in 1996, Balzac's Coffee Roasters has 11 Balzac's Cafés in Ontario, along with its e-tail operations.
