Canada-based equipment manufacturer Macro Engineering and Technology has completed installation of an advanced cast extrusion lamination line at Raven Industries’ facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, US.
Capable of processing advanced barrier structures, the new seven-layer cast lamination line has been designed to prevent the migration of radon, methane, doors and hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Raven Industries Engineered Films Division vice president and general manager Anthony Schmidt said: "This line provides an opportunity for Raven to partner with our customers in the development of some truly unique products with exceptional value propositions.
"The advanced capabilities of this production line will accelerate our expansion into the industrial business segment by offering a broad range of highly refined composite materials -- with several being new to the industry."
The new line futures advanced wide-width cast capabilities for both sheet extrusion and reinforced composite structures as wide as 150in (3.8m), ranging from 0.1mm to 2mm in thickness.
The lamination line incorporates two individual extrusion dies to process low and high-viscosity resin types while allowing production of custom-engineered fabric composites, scrim-reinforced membranes and integrated release liners.
In 2015, Raven has installed wide-width fabrication capacities in its Madison facility in South Dakota to specifically generate wide-width layflat materials while decreasing the fabricated-product lead times of geomembrane liners, custom grain covers and other converted products.
