Carrot Chips Suffers Risk of Salmonella in Canada

Bolthouse Farms is recalling Bolthouse Farms brand Carrot Chips as the product may be contaminated with Salmonella,according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA).

The product being recalled was sold in in 16 oz.bags bearing best if used by date of 12 November 2012,04 T XXXX BF 212 J11 and UPC 71464 17209;best if used by 13 November 2012,04 T XXXX BF 212 J 12 and UPC 71464 17209.

This product may have been distributed throughout Canada.It was manufactured in the US.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the recalled product.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled.Consumption of food contaminated with this bacterium may cause salmonellosis,a foodborne illness.In young children,the elderly and people with weakened immune systems,salmonellosis may result in serious and sometimes deadly infections.

CFIA is working with Canadian importers,distributors,and retailers to recall the affected products from the marketplace and is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
