Dalehead Foods Launches New Paper Board Packaging for Fresh Protein Market

Tulip’s subsidiary Dalehead Foods has launched a new paper board packaging for the fresh protein market.

The recyclable packs with three new ready to eat turkey meats are available in Waitrose stores across the UK.

Waitrose has used the packaging for its three brand new products, including Rosemary, Lemon & Garlic Free Range Turkey Breast, Honey & Mustard Free-Range Turkey Breast and Butter Roasted Free Range Turkey Breast.

Claimed to be the first of its kind in the fresh protein market, the eco-friendly packaging has been developed based on card packs used in the sandwich market.

Card packs appear on shelf with full printing on all sides, helping to easily recognized by the customers.

Featuring ‘widely recycled’ logo, the paper board packaging has been produced by using sustainable raw materials.

Tulip Group innovation manager Matt Richards said: “It was a challenge to take the board packaging used for sandwiches and make it fit for purpose for longer shelf life goods, but by working collaboratively with packaging supplier, Rapid Action Packaging (RAP) and equipment supplier Proseal, as well as Waitrose, we’ve managed to create a top quality solution.”

Waitrose poultry buyer Michelle Slade said: “With a premium look and feel, these recyclable packs are the ideal way to launch the first cooked turkey meats with real herbs and seasoning to the market.”

Dalehead Foods, which is a meat processor in the UK, supplies Waitrose with over 400 products, including fresh pork, bacon, sausage, cooked meats, lamb and added value products.
