NRF Will Continue Its Constructive Dialogue on The Affordable Care Act

“The National Retail Federation (NRF) will continue its constructive dialogue with the Administration and Congress on the Affordable Care Act, in order to address some of the serious implementation challenges confronting our nation’s retailers, chain restaurants, and small business owners”, says NRF Vice President and Employee Benefits Policy Counsel Neil Trautwein on the commencement of the Affordable Care Act’s new health care insurance marketplaces.

He adds, “NRF will work to educate and inform our broad membership throughout implementation – including the opening of the health care marketplaces – to ensure that our members are prepared for the law.

NRF will continue our efforts to alleviate the heavy burdens and mandates the law places on retailers and restaurants, especially in regard to workforce restrictions and reporting requirements, in hopes of making the law more palatable.”

As the world’s largest retail trade association and the voice of retail worldwide, NRF represents retailers of all types and sizes, including chain restaurants and industry partners, from the United States and more than 45 countries abroad.

Retailers operate more than 3.6 million U.S. establishments that support one in four U.S. jobs – 42 million working Americans. Contributing $2.5 trillion to annual GDP, retail is a daily barometer for the nation’s economy.
