Belgium-based pharmaceutical contract manufacturer Sanico has installed four Insight PH metal detectors from Lock Inspection Systems at its Turnhout facility in Belgium, to boost tablet inspection capability with 100% accuracy.
The drug manufacturer said that the technology upgrade is part of the company's continuous drive to enhance quality standards for its global customer base.
Sanico production manager Wim Roelants said that Lock's Insight PH unit is equipped with highly intuitive user interface and streamlined, GMP design, which offers easy disassembly for cleaning.
"By installing an additional four metal detectors in our tabletting operation, we now offer the reassurance of contaminant inspection across our entire tablet range," Roelants added.
The machines are in-line installed checks for metal contaminant during compression, as the tablets leave the press, and pass through the units in containers before moving to blister packaging.
Capable to work round the clock, the metal detectors can inspect the tablet size ranging from 3-25mm in diameter and has a total output in the range between 30,000 to 300,000 tablets per hour.
It is also highly resistant to vibration, and its integrated digital search head and OPTIX detector management software guarantee detection and rejection of minute metal fragments, while maintaining high productivity and sensitivity to all metals.
