Ssangyong Motor, a part of Mahindra Group. has unveiled a new Design Center at the R&D campus of the Pyeongtaek Plant in Gyeonggi Province of South Korea.
The center is expected to collaborate with the company's development process and ensure the communication between the design and R&D.
The center features a modeling room, design sample room, color lab, design studio and an evaluation room equipped with a Virtual Reality (VR) system to evaluate interiors and exteriors of the new vehicles.
At first the design center was built with the Central R&D Center in 1992 which was moved to the company's Logistics Center in Anseong in 1992.
The new center is claimed to be 40% larger with an area of 93,320ft2 and will assist in development of the future models like XIV series.
Ssangyong Motor CEO Lee Yoo-il said: "Ssangyong's new Design Center will take a lead role in reflecting various customer needs and design trends in Ssangyong vehicles."
