A New Corrugated Board and Packaging Plant Will Be Constructed in Germany

Schumacher Packaging has announced plans to invest €30m to €40m to construct a new corrugated board and packaging plant at the Airport Park FMO in Greven, north-western Germany.

The investment will be made in the first phase of the project, in which the company will build a 20,000m2 production facility housing a corrugator, four processing units and different finishing options for packaging such as six-color flexographic printing.

In this regard, the company has already purchased a 100,000m2 land and has an option to add another 35,000m2.

Construction work on the plant is expected to commence in spring 2013, while the production will begin in January 2014.

Schumacher Packaging managing director Bjrn Schumacher said the new facility offers ideal conditions for the company to expand its European presence in markets such as the Netherlands, Belgium and the Scandinavian countries.

"As the site of the Airport FMO has the ideal infrastructure for us, simply because of the close proximity to the airport Münster / Osnabrück, and the A1 is hardly a kilometer away," Schumacher said.
