India Market Days is a project approved by Ministry of Textiles and is funded under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India for inviting overseas buyers and buying agents under Reverse BSM.
The Chief Guest of the event was Ms. Anika Passi, Regional Merchandise Manager, K-Mart, Australia Ltd. Shri Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman Export Promotion inaugurated the India Market Days, in presence of Shri H.K.L. Magu, Sr. Vice Chairman, AEPC, participants and buyers. During inauguration, Chief Guest Ms. Passi said that “there is huge potential and I see huge opportunities in India. India has infrastructure, fashion and supportive atmosphere. I wish all buyers make good use of opportunities”.
Inaugurating the India Market Days, Shri Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman Export Promotion at AEPC lauded the efforts made to help the domestic exporters and the state of art exhibition halls that Apparel house provides. India Market days will provide an opportunity to analyze and choose, from the wide spectrum of existing and emerging products at one place, analyze prevailing rates in the market, finalise bulk requirements and negotiate best rates for bulk orders.
Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) an apex body of Indian apparel exporters has organized the ‘India Market Days’ at Apparel House, Gurgaon, its world class venue for the business of fashion from 2nd to 3rd September 2013. Shri Sudhir Sekhri in his inaugural address welcomed the buyers and said, “The event will help the garment exporters find the right partners for their business.
Through Apparel House, we have provided them with the well spaced showrooms wherein they can interact and negotiate good business.” Market Days is one of the endeavors for AEPC’s export promotion initiatives for the year 2013, wherein we are hopeful that the apparel exporters will generate good business deals with buyers from the continent countries, he added.

Shri H.K.L. Magu Senior Vice Chairman AEPC, during his address stated that “Market Days is one of the endeavors for AEPC’s export promotion initiatives for the year 2012-13 wherein we are hopeful that the apparel exporters will generate good business deals with buyers from the continent countries. Another set of Market Days will be organized in the month November, 2013”.
Shri Lalit Thukral, Senior Vice- President Apparel House Exporters Association & Convener Apparel Mart Apparel Market Days remarked that, “I am happy to note that AEPC is taking concrete and planned steps to promote the Apparel House by holding regular India Market Days I am sure India Market Days will be useful for both buyers and sellers in growing their own business. I welcome all buyers who have come cutting across different regions and countries.”

Apparel exports were to the tune of USD 1279 million in July 2013-14 with increase of 19 per cent against the corresponding month of last financial year. In rupee terms, the exports have increased by 28 per cent in July 2013-14 over the same month of previous FY.
Export in dollar terms for April-July of the FY 2013-14 has increased by 13 per cent over the same period of previous FY and reached to USD 4841 million however, in rupee terms exports increased by 18 per cent compared to same period of last FY. In April-July 2013-14 in rupee terms apparel export of India was to the tune of Rs. 27538 crore compared to Rs. 23300 crore in April-July 2012-13.
The last India Market Days was held in the month of July 2013 which generated the business of US$ 272,000.
