After School Program Was Be Launched by USA BMX

USA BMX has launched a new after school enrichment program based on a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum. The program, which had a soft rollout in April, is now integrated into more than 20 school districts across the United States.?

The USA BMX program is equal part education, equal part athletics and exercise. Each student receives the STEM education, a helmet, a Redline BMX bike, and a free membership to USA BMX. The curriculum is being used by public and private schools, bike clubs, summer camps and after school enrichment programs.

The program is designed for kids ages 7 to 14. The eight-module curriculum includes 30 hours of educational programming with a student-to-teacher ratio of 20 to 1. There are plans to launch an additional program for younger kids in 2014, USA BMX said.?

"Our goal in year one was to reach 5,000 kids who have never experienced BMX," said USA BMX chief executive officer B.A. Anderson. "Through the partnerships we have built with Seattle Bike Supply, STEM Finity and Nickelodeon, we have already exceeded our wildest expectations for this year."
