Envision Plastics has received a no-objection letter from the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to use its EcoPrime product in packaging for fatty foods and spirits.
The letter was issued under FDA’s conditions of use A through H to use the product at levels up to 100% in HDPE packaging for fatty foods and spirits.
Envision claims that its EcoPrime product is the only post-consumer recycled HDPE resin for which the FDA has granted a favourable review for use in food packaging of all types up to retort temperature conditions.
The company cliams that EcoPrime is one of the only recycled and recyclable HDPE resins, manufactured specifically for direct food contact at levels of up to 100%.
Envision may use the product in the packaging of any food product, offering brand owners a recycled and recyclable solution for all their food packaging requirements.
The product can be integrated easily into existing manufacturing processes for food, beverages, beauty, cosmetic and personal care products.
Envision Plastics sales & procurement vice president Tamsin Ettefagh said: “I am thrilled at the opportunities the FDA’s letter of no objection provides, extending the use of this innovative product into new markets.
“Made from US sourced recycled food packaging, integrating EcoPrime not only provides your end consumers the products they love, but within packaging they can feel good about.”
Since its establishment in 2001, Envision has produced more than 750 million pounds of recycled resin.
Consolidated Container Company (CCC) acquired Envision in June 2014. It continues to operate as a distinct business within the CCC family.
