Spain Has Exported Yarn Worth €286.6 Million During The Period of January to Aug 2013

Spain has exported yarn worth €286.6 million during the period of January to August 2013, indicating an increase of 3.3 percent year-on-year, as per the data released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain.

According to the monthly data on exports released by the Ministry, Germany has become the main destination for Spain’s yarn exports, as Spanish exports of yarn to the country stood at €46.4 million, which is a rise of 1.1 percent compared to the same period in 2012.

However, Spain’s yarn exports to Italy, which used to be the main market earlier, has declined by 11.7 percent year-on-year, with exports worth €42.2 million during the first eight months of 2013. 

France remains third with yarn exports from Spain worth €35.6 million, followed by Portugal with exports worth €27.8 million and the UK with €20.5 million.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry’s data, outside of the European Union (EU) yarn exports from Spain to Algeria during the first eight months of 2013 stood at €10.1 million, indicating a surge of 31.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

Spain’s yarn exports to the Latin American country of Mexico also increased by 11.7 percent year-on-year and touched €10.2 million during the January to August period. Other Latin American countries such as Argentina and Colombia imported yarn from the country worth €1.5 million and €1 million, respectively, during the first eight months of this year.

According to the Ministry’s data, textile exports from Spain during the first eight months stood at €7.83 billion, showing a rise of 14.7 percent year-on-year.
