Wayne Farms Is Recalling Approximately 28,528 Pounds of Frozen,Fully Cooked,Chicken

Wayne Farms is recalling approximately 28,528 pounds of frozen,fully cooked,chicken products in the US,as they may contain foreign materials—pieces of a plastic pen,according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service(FSIS).

The products being recalled are:900-lb.combo cases containing thirty,30-lb.bags of Wayne Farms,Fully Cooked Grill Marked White Meat Chicken Strips.

They were produced on 3 October 2012 and bear the USDA mark of inspection and the case codes 372277174001 through 372277254005 on the label.Three combo cases,one each from 6 September 2012,19 September 2012,and 24 September 2012 are also affected.

The products were distributed to a plant in Kentucky for further processing into potential retail products.

This recall has been classified as Class II,which indicates a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.

FSIS was alerted to the problem by Wayne Farms after the company received complaints from a customer who identified the foreign matter while preparing to further process the product.FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury associated with consumption of this product.People concerned about injury have been advised to contact a healthcare provider.

Wayne Farms,based in Oakwood,Georgia,is producer and processor of poultry.It operates 13 processing facilities in the southeast region of the US.
