Advance Word on Several New Press Models Were Provided by Two Exhibitors

Advance word on several new press models were provided by two exhibitors at next month's Fakuma show in Germany. Arburg (U.S. office in Newington, Conn.) will feature its new Allrounder E (Edrive) series of “entry-level” all-electric toggle presses. Edrive is described as an economical electric alternative to basic hydraulic machines. They offer energy savings, faster cycles through overlapping parallel actions, and high precision. They have direct drives that are enclosed (along with the spindles) and liquid cooled for cleanliness; minimum external heat dissipation; and quietness. Arburg will display all four models from 60 to 200 metric tons, with maximum shot sizes of 172 to 434 g (6.1-15.3 oz) and tiebar spacing of 370 x 370 to 570 x 570 mm. For the ultimate in speed and special features like injection-compression molding, Arburg offers its higher-end Allrounder A (Alldrive) electric series. Meantime, Wittmann Battenfeld (U.S. office in S. Elgin, Ill.) is showing new sizes in two press series. Its MacroPower two-platen hydraulic line now has a smaller model of 650 m.t. The rest of the line spans 800 to 1000 m.t. It will be shown with online thermography of molded parts with closed-loop correction of mold temperature, in cooperation with the South German Plastics Center (SKZ Wurzburg). Moreover, Wittmann Battenfeld's all-electric EcoPower series is going up one size to 300 m.t. It's “extreme energy efficiency” is said to be more than 60% lower in power consumption than a “modern standard hydraulic machine.” Source: ptonline.com
